Holcomb Hosts Successful Unit Conference
“The Power of One” filled the minds of 233 KAY Club members who attended the January 25 Unit Conference hosted by Holcomb. Students from Cimarron, Leoti, Jetmore, Ingalls, Sublette, Satanta, Southwestern Heights, Meade, and South Gray attended brainstorming sessions for service projects, listened to speakers Mary Palmer of the Lee Richardson Zoo and Sgt. Steve Martinez of the Finney County Sheriff’s Department, completed a service project, and were encouraged by State Director Cheryl Gleason to be the type of positive leaders that others will look up to.
This conference was successful thanks to the student leaders who helped plan the morning and worked together to make the day run so smoothly.
Productive Citizenship Week for Holcomb KAY Club

Great turn-out for Holcomb High School KAY Club Blood Drive
The Holcomb High School KAY Club sponsored a blood drive on Thursday, November 10. The goal of 18 was surpassed, with a total of 19 units collected. Ten of those were first-time student donors. Krystle Jacobs, the Donor Recruitment Representative, informed Holcomb that it was the first high school in Southwest Kansas so far this season to make its goal. Those 19 donations can help save the lives of up to 57 hospital patients.
The Red Cross nurses who worked the drive were extremely appreciative of the students’ support and cooperation.
