Who is Ms. Smith?

I am Bobbi J. Smith. I am the Title/ESL teacher at Holcomb Elementary School in Holcomb, Kansas. This is my eleventh year as a teacher. During the eleven years I have taught all grade levels but kindergarten.

In December of 2000, I received my bachelors degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University majoring in Elementary Education.

I earned my Masters Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language in May 2005 from Fort Hays State University. I received my Reading Specialist in May 2006.

I have a daughter Kallie who graduated from Texas Tech University and is employed with the USDA.  Her husband David is currently serving in the United States Army as an aviation mechanic.

My son Kolton is a 2011 graduate of Holcomb High School. He is attending college at Kansas State University majoring in Milling Science and is a member of the K-State ROTC

The Eagles Have Landed

For the past few years, my student's have enjoyed watching live video feeds of two eagle nests located in British Columbia, Canada. Click on the links below to watch.

Sidney Nest

There will not be a viewing of this nest as the eagles have decided to build a new nest in a different location. The land owners do not want a camera put in place.

Lily the Bear

We also have been observing Lily the Bear. This is a live video feed from Ely, MN in which researchers have been watching a bear while hibernating. Her name is Lily. She is in the den with her two year old cub Hope. This is the second year that Hope has hibernated with her mom.

Jewel the Bear

3-year-old Jewel is the younger sister to Lily. This is her first year to give birth. She gave birth on January 22 to two cubs. My students laugh when they hear content cubs as they sound like a small engine trying to start!
