New District Web Page - Tips and Tricks!!
Learn the inside tips to www.usd363.com!
As you can see, the USD 363 Holcomb web site has changed! We have been working internally for the past few months to redesign the web site, and we will be making additions over the course of the next several weeks and months. The site will continue to evolve and keep you up to date on important school activities and information. As the site evolves, some links will refer to the old site, until those links are completed on the new site. (The old web site will still be available, but the content will not be updated like it will be on this new site.)
To help you become familiar with the new site, here are some tips and tricks to help quickly navigate through the district site to find the information you need.
- Tabs (across the top) - The black tabs across the web page will take you to each building's home page. From there, you can access every link that is available from that school. (If you are on the district home page, you will access all of the district links.)
- Fly-outs (from the left) - Each web page will have unique "fly-outs" that will allow you to quickly access the frequently visited web pages with a minimal number of mouse clicks.
- Navigational Buttons (on the right) - Navigational buttons on the right side of the web pages will allow quick access to the most visited web sites, such as Gaggle, PowerSchool and KanEd. These buttons will be found on every district web page that is not a teacher page.
- Pop-up Weather - At the top of the right column, you will find recent weather conditions in Holcomb. Just pass your mouse over the temp or over the weather icon and you will see weather details. Click on the temp or weather icon to access further weather details for Holcomb. (Note: The weather information, provided by Yahoo and The Weather Channel, is not always current. To access the most current weather information from the Holcomb Middle School WeatherLab station, click on the WeatherBug link near the bottom of the right column.
- Language Translation - The "Literal Translation" link at the bottom of the right column will translate any district web page to another language. Spanish as well as many other languages are available.
- News Update - Sign up for the "News Update", found in the lower-left column, and you will receive emails with current news articles or district announcements from the web site.
- Feedback - Many of the web pages will give you an option to provide comments to the article at the bottom of the page. Your comments will be sent to the author of the web page for review and publication. Please remember to be positive and courteous in your responses as the author has the right to reject comments for publication.
- Archives - When articles are no longer current, they will be removed from the current web site display but they are still accessible for use. Use the "Archive Search" engine to find retired web site articles that contain your search terms.

One of the reasons we chose the SOCS network was because the site itself is very dynamic; in other words, it has the ability to change... a lot! While the site won't be a daily newspaper, by any means, it is certainly our goal to keep the content fresh and exciting in an effort to entice you to return often.
So, we invite you to take a look now, and then keep checking in with us from time to time; hopefully you'll notice the changes, the new features, etc. Also, we encourage you to sign up for the News Update to get the latest news forwarded directly to you. New articles will be added as they develop. Click here to find out how to subscribe.
*** The Calendar component of the web site is not yet ready, but will be soon. We'll let you know when you can sign up for weekly or monthly reminders for the events and activities you are interested in.***
Thanks for visiting and come back again, soon!
